Entry is competitive, but any parent who would like their son to come to the RGS should not be deterred from applying for financial reasons as it is the policy of the School to make the education offered as widely available as possible.

Means-tested bursaries, up to 100% remission of fees, are available according to financial needs and the funds available for bursaries. These are administered by the Bursar.

Types of Bursary

Entrance Bursaries are awarded from school funds primarily to boys entering the School at age 11 and 13 although depending on the availability of funds, Entrance Bursaries may be awarded to boys entering the School at other ages.

Hardship Bursaries are normally awarded to boys who have been at the School for at least 12 months (although exceptions may be made in the event of totally unforeseen circumstances). These are generally short term awards to allow parents time to resolve their financial difficulties.
