The General Studies programme is a distinctive part of
the RGS Sixth Form experience.
week, students from RGS and Guildford High School take part in General Studies
which comprises three six-week courses during the first two terms of the year. During the Trinity Term there is a programme
of lectures and other presentations. The
fundamental rationale of General Studies is promoting learning for its own sake,
but there is also value in broadening the experience of Sixth Form students
beyond the examined curriculum in a co-educational context.
The General Studies programme is diverse, challenging and
engaging and allows the students to participate in non-examined academic and
skills-based enrichment. The courses
change regularly, and are determined by the passions and expertise of staff.
