The Good Schools Guide is an independent guide which provides a
detailed, subjective insight into schools.
It was founded in 1985 by Amanda Atha and Sarah Drummond, two parents in
search of schools for their children.
With the help of others, they visited hundreds of schools and wrote up
their experiences in a direct and independent style which still characterises
the guide. Schools are not able to pay
to be included, rather the guide is
independent in its judgements; views schools from a parent's perspective and on
the basis of parental opinion; and is not influenced by academic results alone.
Based upon an extensive visit, interviews
with the parent and staff body, as well as the Headmaster, and open discussions
with the students, The Good Schools
Guide reviewed the RGS in 2013; the full report is provided below.
